I just read the book Stormchaser, from the series The Edge Chronicles. The book is about Twig, a creature from the Deepwoods, looking with his father, Quintinius Verginix (a sky pirate) for the sacred substance of Stormphrax. To find Stormphrax, one must enter deeply into a Great Storm. A Great Storm only comes once every two or three years, so if you miss it even by the faintest minute, you have failed. To get to the Great Storm, Twig and his father must sail high in the sky ship, Stormchaser, to hunt it down. Stormphrax is needed in the town of Sanctaphrax to weigh it down, and also in Undertown to create Phraxdust. A single speck of Phraxdust will purify even the dirtiest of waters. Will Twig and his father succeed, or will the Great Storm swallow them whole? This is a great book for extreme fantasy lovers. I recommend this book to kids ages eleven through thirteen. Can you handle the suspense, or will you get swallowed up too?

Who knew that mice could sing? A Mouse Called wolf is a wonderful story about a mouse that is a REALLY good singer. With the help of Mrs. Honeybee he could become the first mouse singer.
Mary (wolf’s mother) goes out on the Grand piano and tries to sing but all that comes out is a high pitch squeak. Mrs. Honeybee is not impressed by that, and looks at wolf with a disgusted face.
Something interesting in this story is that Mrs. Honeybee turns out to be nice. From what I inferred in the beginning, when they first meet Mrs. Honeybee I thought that she was going to be mean, but she is very nice. After Mrs.Honeybee and Wolf hung out more, Mrs. Honeybee started to give Wolf and his mother Mary little chocolate candies.
I recommend this book to kids and adults who like animals.

Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel

From the genre Runt Makes Good, subdivision Epic Journey, comes this tale of Shade, the Silverwing bat, whose curiosity imperils his clan, and who gets separated from them on their southerly migration. Adventures ensue, including tagging up with a Brightwing named Marina, and an extended flight from two cannibalistic vampire bats. Oppel has a knack for spinning a yarn, and embellishes this one with much bat lore and mythico-religious overtones.

The Girls by Amy Koss

What is the price of friendship? Would you allow yourself to be insulted and controlled? Would you dump one friend at the insistence of another? Would you do anything to be friends with the most popular girl in school? It cost to be friends with the ever-popular Candace. Maya remembered the day that Candace came by and asked her to “do lunch.” How lucky she thought she was to be chosen by someone so popular. The other girls, Renee, Darcy, and Brianna were already Candace friends, so they were part of the package Maya received when she became one of the girls. Once Candace was her friend, they were too. At first the cost to Maya had been her old friends, who she gradually dropped. Later Candace would make a comment about her that sounded mean, but of course it really wasn't; anyway, Candace was usually right about things. It was all worth it, being one of the girls.
But suddenly, for some unknown reason Maya was no longer worthy to be part of the group. Candace had dumped her. And it seemed as though the other girls were dumping her too. What could she have done that was so horrible? What were the other girls thinking and saying about her? How would she face them? Is this what friendship is all about?
